Bittern in flight by Nick Goodrum

Boom of the bittern walk

Sunday 05 May, 2024
You will learn some fascinating facts about this rare and elusive marshland bird. Listen out for the booming call of the male bittern as we near Bittern hide, as they try to attract a mate. Once at the hide, you might catch a glimpse of this pale, buff-brown heron. Please bring binoculars. A limited number of pairs are available to hire at the visitor centre. (Walking will include some uneven ground, up to a distance of 2 miles)
