David Horsley is a former professional biologist, a naturalist and a photographer, and likes to use his photographs to illustrate talks explaining interesting biological principles. Understanding the spectrum of symbiosis is vital in the conservation of Britain's blue butterflies. They have had hard times, but many are now doing well, thanks to improved conservation techniques based on this knowledge, and in particular our understanding of their relationship with ants.
