Nature photography competition

Take part in 2025

Our annual photography competition will be returning for summer 2025! We’re on the lookout for talented wildlife photographers to take part and share their vision of Norfolk’s nature. We want to see your best images of Norfolk’s birds, mammals, marine life, bugs, plants, fungi and landscapes – taken anywhere from one of NWT’s reserves to your own garden.

Photographers of all experiences are encouraged to share their vision of Norfolk’s amazing nature, with images taken with professional cameras or mobile phones welcome! Judges will select a favourite photograph for each month of the year to be printed in our 2026 calendar, with a selection of the best photos also being shown in an exhibition at NWT Cley Marshes and The Forum, Norwich.

You'll be able to submit up to 3 of your best images of Norfolk's nature, taken anywhere in the county within the past year. The competition is free to enter and open to all ages.

Sign up to our e-newsletter here to be one of the first to find out more details, or keep an eye on our website for updates.

Nature photography competition 2024

Over summer 2024, we held the latest iteration of our annual nature photography competition. With over 600 stunning photographs of wildlife and wild places across Norfolk submitted, we want to thank everyone who took part.

An overall winner, young photographer and runner up were chosen by staff from across Norfolk Wildlife Trust. The winners were awarded prizes generously donated by competition sponsors ZEISS, which included a pair of ZEISS Conquest HD binoculars, and two ZEISS Secacam trail cameras.

2024's year’s overall winner was Stuart Merchant and his incredible image of two emperor dragonflies, whilst Roman Czajkowski’s kingfisher in the rain took the tightly fought position of runner-up. Our best young photographer was 10-year-old Tyler Hood, who impressed us with his excellently captured thick-legged flower beetle on a buttercup.

All three images and nine shortlisters have been featured in Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s 2025 calendar, with the proceeds going towards supporting our conservation work. Selected photographs have also been featured in an exhibition held at The Forum in Norwich and at NWT Cley Marshes.
