Vibrant Localism: The Story of Common Ground

Thursday 09 May, 2019
UEA Lecturer in Contemporary Literature Jos Smith will introduce the work of the arts and environmental charity Common Ground and plot their emergence from the environmental activism of the 1970s to become a significant influence on British conservation in the 1980s and 90s. He will explore the relationship they drew between conservation practice and the arts and the way their founding idea of ‘local distinctiveness’ emerged from this relationship.
