Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s County Council candidate pledge
Nature is important to people in Norfolk. We love our local wildlife and we’re proud of our local nature-rich places: from our rivers and chalk streams, to parks, woods, meadows, wetlands and famous landscapes like the Brecks, the Broads and our stunning coastline.
Norfolk Wildlife Trust are calling on all candidates standing for the upcoming Norfolk County Council elections to commit to take the following actions for nature if they are elected on Thursday 7th May 2026:
1) Support positive council decisions for nature, including through the delivery of Norfolk’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
In the meantime, please ask your party to endorse our manifesto [link]. The manifesto is focussed on actions the next County Council and new Combined County Authority can take to protect and restore nature. It is supported by environmental organisations with a combined membership of over 200,000 people across Norfolk and Suffolk.
2) Stand up for locally valued nature and wildlife to ensure it is protected and continues to benefit communities.
3) Support communities to enhance their local natural environment and green spaces – nature is good for us, and everyone should have access to high-quality nature-rich areas in their neighbourhoods.
