About the event

Want to make a difference for nature, but not sure where to start?

This inspiring discussion brings together some of the UK’s leading young climate and nature activists to share how we can all create a positive change for nature.

Featuring speakers including Scarlett Westbrook; the youngest parliamentary policy writer known for her work on climate education, and Jaz Brook; a sustainability, social impact and youth empowerment specialist, this online panel will explore how young people are influencing climate policy, building grassroots campaigns and speaking up for nature - and how you can too!

Hear fascinating insights, experiences and discussions from young people affecting real policy and behaviour, helping our environment and making our communities healthier. You’ll learn practical insights into what it means to be an activist, including how to speak up for the planet and start your own grassroots campaigns.

Perfect for anyone wanting to take positive action, start campaigning or become an activist in their community.

Online event - joining link sent ahead of the session. Join from 6pm for a 6.05pm start.

Featuring:

Scarlett Westbrook

Scarlett Westbrook is a 21-year-old leading climate justice activist and journalist, and the youngest person in the world to attain an A level in Government and Politics, which she self-taught at age 13. She is also the youngest parliamentary policy writer, most known for her work on climate education, and for being a lead organiser of the British School Climate Strikes. In 2022, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of London for her work on climate justice. She is a co-founder of Teach the Future.

Talia Hardy

Talia is a geographer and climate storyteller working across environmental justice, youth activism, and documentary filmmaking. For three years, they worked with SOS-UK on the Climate Action Plans (CAPs) campaign and the National Youth Shadow Panel for the Curriculum and Assessment Review. They are currently working on a documentary on the Rights of Nature, due for release in September, which explores the growing movement to rethink humanity’s relationship with the natural world and aims to spread a message of action-orientated climate hope by showcasing solutions already happening today.

Jaz Brook

Founder and CEO of Youth Climate Solutions, UEA SU Environment Officer + Sustainability Committee Student Rep, Climate and Social Justice Activist. I work across education, industry and policy for a whole picture approach. All of my work is built on 3 core principles: systemic problems require systemic solutions, intersectional and wellbeing led approaches are the key to justice and young people are the leaders of today, not tomorrow.
