Mile Cross Site Entrance (EAST) A

Mile Cross Welcome sign

Transcript

You have arrived at Mile Cross gate on the eastern boundary of NWT Sweet Briar Marshes. The illustration on the Welcome sign here shows a view across the reserve from this entrance point. In the foreground of the sign, a watchful jay perches on an oak branch, an acorn in its beak. Its soft grey feathers are accented by a bright blue streak on its wing. Beneath the branch, a wide paved path runs through a landscape of green bushes, tall trees, and open marshland. This path starts here at Mile Cross gate and ends at the far end of the nature reserve. The illustration shows two people on this path – a white lady with long red hair walking beside a white man with short black hair in a wheelchair. A dog accompanies them on a short lead. The summer sky is fading to pink, suggesting the end or beginning of the day. The wording on the sign invites you to Come in and Explore.
