If you build it they will come - the ospreys' nesting return to the East of England with Simon Curtin
Event details
About the event
In 2025 ospreys bred for the first time in over 250 years in Norfolk at NWT Ranworth Broad, a significant and exciting milestone in the reintroduction of this iconic bird back to England. The successful nest in Norfolk has direct links back to a project started in 2014 in the vale of Belvoir, Leicestershire. Amateur naturalist Simon Curtin, a bird watcher for over 50 years, tells the inspirational personal story of his encounters with the osprey and the project he led to bring the bird back as a breeding species to the East Midlands and how it became significant to the Norfolk success. The talk, illustrated with many personally taken pictures and videos, gives a background on ospreys and their behaviours including nesting, migration, feeding etc as well as information on the Belvoir project as a "how to" guide, and brings the audience right up to date with the successful Norfolk nest.
