Cley Marshes, by artist John Hurst

Artists add their support

Friday 30 August, 2013

Regular exhibitor at NWT Cley Marshes visitor centre, John Hurst, is continuing to raise funds for NWT through exhibitions of his exquisite watercolours depicting landscapes, architecture and rural life. Originals and prints were on sale in March and April 2013, and the artist was available to talk to visitors about the influences on his work and his technique. John has raised over £1,700 for NWT in the last year through the sale of his work. His next exhibition will run from 3-16 October.

Another popular and regular artist at Cley is Steve Cale. In spring 2013, Steve’s original painting Spring on the scrape: waders at Cley Marshes, was raffled by NWT, which together with the sale of limited edition prints, raised over £1,300 for the Cley Marshes appeal.

The “A Team” Art Exhibition at Picturecraft Gallery, Holt, which took place in June, raised £3,000 for the Cley Appeal. The first day covers of Robert Gillmor’s bird stamps, raised £1,036 through sealed bids, and more money may be raised when the unsold artwork is auctioned at a later date.

Many thanks to all the artists who donated their work, to Mary Richardson for the initial idea, and to Adrian Hill for the use of part of the gallery and support throughout the exhibition.

A number of visual artists, influenced by the Norfolk landscape and wildlife, regularly raise funds for NWT through the sale of their work. We would like to thank them all for their ongoing support.
