Come and discover Sweet Briar Marshes!
We're delighted to be opening our new Norwich nature reserve this weekend and holding a series of free events.
Phase 1 - securing the site
The first phase at Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Sweet Briar Marshes nature reserve - most of which will be complete when Sweet Briar Marshes opens to the public in 2024 – involves securing the site with new or repaired fencing and adding new pedestrian gates.
Phase 2 - access and moving around the site
Phase two of the development of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Sweet Briar Marshes nature reserve focuses on the accessibility of the reserve and creating different walks around the site for all abilities.
Phase 3 – hub and facilities
Phase three of the development of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Sweet Briar Marshes nature reserves focuses on the facilities provided at the reserve to allow visitors to get closer to nature, such as lookout points and outdoor classrooms for school visits. Ideas such as a community hub and refreshments will also be explored.
Phase 4 - bridge, boardwalk and aerial walkway
Phase four of the development of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Sweet Briar Marshes nature reserve focuses on providing additional visitor facilities and access routes. A pedestrian bridge, aerial walkway and boardwalks are all possible design ideas.
