Award-winning wildlife photographer, author and autistic speaker Alfie Bowen invites audiences on a powerful journey through the natural world, revealing how seeing life differently can become a remarkable strength.

Blending breathtaking wildlife photography with deeply personal storytelling, Alfie shares how autism has shaped the way he experiences the world - from struggling to fit in at school and facing relentless bullying, to finding refuge behind a camera lens. Photography became both his voice and his window into nature.

Through captivating images of some of the world's most extraordinary animals, this talk explores the surprising connections between wildlife and the human experience. Alfie's photographs are more than portraits of animals - they are stories of resilience, observation, patience and hope. Along the way, audiences discover how traits often associated with autism, such as attention to detail, intense focus and noticing patterns others miss, can become extraordinary strengths.

This inspiring and thought-provoking talk encourages audiences to embrace different perspectives, challenge assumptions and celebrate neurodiversity. It also highlights the importance of conservation, reminding us that every species - and every person - has an important place in our world.

This talk is suitable for adults and young people.

This talk will be taking place in 'The Crypt' at St Andrews Hall as part of the Wild by Design event . Please arrive 15 minutes before the talk begins and speak to someone at the entrance.
