Sloughbottom Meadows Open Day
Event details
About the event
Join us for a celebration of Sloughbottom Meadows, our new youth-led reserve - and enjoy a packed programme of walks, talks and activities helping you connect with nature and experience the joy of this wild space. The event will begin at 1pm and finish at 7pm.
Our Youth Forum have been actively transforming the reserve in preparation; building habitats, installing infrastructure and caring for the wildflowers. This free drop-in event is open for everyone and anyone to enjoy the space, meet the community, take inspiration from local grassroots action, and learn more about protecting wildlife.
The Sloughbottom Meadows Open Day is being masterminded by the Youth Forum, and a full programme will be released later in the year. Expect food stalls, guided walks, talks from experts and young activists, and a pop-exhibition showcasing artworks and materials from local archives telling the history of Norfolk’s wildlife.
At Norfolk Wildlife Trust, we believe that nature belongs to everyone. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all young people feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to the future of Norfolk's wildlife.
Building Foundations for the Future is funded thanks to support from National Lottery players and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Sloughbottom Meadows is located the end of Burnet Road on the Sweet Briar Industrial Estate. It’s a short walk from Sloughbottom Park and NWT Sweet Briar Marshes, and sits alongside the Marriott’s Way. We’ll have signs positioned around the local area to help guide you to this tucked away pocket of wildlife. The reserve is easily reachable by cycling down the Marriott’s Way. Full directions will be added to this page closer to the time.
