Ask your County Council election candidates to take our pledge

Norfolk County Council elections will be held on Thursday 7 May 2026.

We’re calling on all the parties and candidates standing in the election to commit to take action to protect and restore nature if they’re elected.

Please help by asking your local election candidates to sign our candidate election pledge.

Find your local candidates and their contact details

You may need to contact candidates using different methods, as they may not all have an email address listed publicly. Here are some of the contact methods that might be available:

  • An email address or website
  • A social media profile you can message privately or post on publicly
  • A postal address
  • Face to face if you see them campaigning locally

You can find information on your local candidates in the following places:

The full list of candidates for each area will be published on the Norfolk County Council website on Friday 10th April, after the official nomination period closes.

Before the nomination period closes, many candidates will already be campaigning. The website ‘Who can I vote for?’ crowdsources information on candidates and is a good source of contact details both before and after the official list is published. Simply enter your postcode to bring up your area (known as a ‘division’) and the names and contact details of local candidates.

It is also worth looking at social media before the nomination period has closed, as many candidates will use local community pages to post about their campaigns. You may like to monitor local pages or try searching for individual candidates, e.g. ‘[party name] candidate [name of division].

Use our template to write your message

Copy/paste and edit the template from the drop down menu below, then send the message to each of your candidates.

Please send messages to each of your candidates individually, as you’ll be more likely to get a response. If the contact details for candidates aren’t yet available, please make a note to check back later.

We’d also really appreciate it if you would forward any replies you receive – you can send them to campaigns@norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk.

Subject: Please sign Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s County Council election pledge

Dear [name of candidate]

I’m getting in touch to ask if you will sign Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s County Council election pledge?

You can find out more about the pledge and sign here: http://norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/candidatepledge

[Here you can say a bit about why nature matters to you, particularly in your local area. This will help to show candidates that nature is something that matters to people where you live. You might like to include information on your favourite local nature sites, why you value and enjoy nature and what it means for your health and wellbeing.]

Nature underpins our prosperity in Norfolk and the wellbeing of our people and communities. It provides us with everything from food and water to energy and recreation, and it’s vital for our thriving tourism industry that’s so important to our economy.

Allowing nature to be lost or damaged puts the things it provides us with at risk, making us all poorer. Protecting, restoring, and investing in nature on the other hand can deliver huge benefits: it can improve our health, protect homes and businesses from flooding, and support sustainable jobs and a resilient economy.

I hope you agree that protecting and restoring nature isn’t optional – it’s essential for a better future.

Please read and sign the pledge – here’s a reminder of the link: http://norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/candidatepledge

If you have any questions you can contact the Norfolk Wildlife Trust team at campaigns@norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk.

Best wishes,

[Your name and address]
