Booton Common

Booton Common lies in the valley of a tributary of the River Wensum, about a mile east of Reepham.

The species-rich fen and wet heathland contain several rare plants. The alder woodland that borders the Common contains plants that are usually only found in ancient woodland.

Fragrant orchid
The flowers of this species are purple- pink. They are one of the few sweet- smelling orchids to be found in Britain, with their orange-like fragrance most noticeable in the evening.
