Subject line: Please sign Norfolk Wildlife Trust's candidate pledge

Hello,

I’m getting in touch ahead of the County Council elections on 7th May to ask if your local candidate in my area [you can add the name of the party’s candidate here – visit https://www.whocanivotefor.co.uk to find a list of candidates standing in your area] will sign Norfolk Wildlife Trust's election pledge. I would appreciate it if you would forward this message to them.

Candidates can find out more about the ‘United for Nature’ candidate pledge and sign it here: https://www.norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/CandidatePledge

[Here you can say a bit about why nature matters to you, particularly in your local area. This will help to show candidates that nature is something that matters to people where you live. You might like to include information on your favourite local nature sites, why you value and enjoy nature and what it means for your health and wellbeing.]

Nature underpins our prosperity in Norfolk and the wellbeing of our people and communities. It provides us with everything from food and water to energy and recreation, and it’s vital for our thriving tourism industry that’s so important to our economy.

Allowing nature to be lost or damaged puts the things it provides us with at risk, making us all poorer. Protecting, restoring, and investing in nature on the other hand can deliver huge benefits: it can improve our health, protect homes and businesses from flooding, and support sustainable jobs and a resilient economy.

I hope you agree that protecting and restoring nature isn’t optional – it’s essential for a better future.

Here’s a reminder of the link to sign the pledge: https://www.norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/CandidatePledge

If you have any questions you can contact the Norfolk Wildlife Trust team at campaigns@norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk.

Best wishes,

  1. Spread the word!

The more people who share their support for nature in the local elections, the greater chance we have to make nature a bigger priority in local politics.

Other things you could do:

  • Contact your local candidates directly: visit http://www.whocanivotefor.co.uk and enter your postcode to find the direct contact details of County Council election candidates in your area where available, and adapt the template email above to contact them.
  • Share this page with your friends, family and colleagues: and anyone else you know who cares about nature and wants local government to do more to help wildlife and our natural environment.
  • Share your support on social media: download our campaign image (tap and hold, or right-click) and post it to social media to help spread the word for nature, and tag your local politicians and parties.
