About the event
In this interactive workshop, learn tools and techniques to help you write poetry exploring the nature of grief; the grief caused by losing elements of the natural world; and how nature can help humans accept, process and live with grief.
The workshop will be led by local writer James McDermott whose poetry books include ‘Wild Life’ (Nine Arches Press; shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Awards 2023) and ‘Manatomy’ (Burning Eye Books).
Know before you go
Dogs
No dogs permitted on the reserve. Visitors with dogs can walk Beach Road, along the shingle bank (northern reserve boundary) and East bank.
As an event attendee, you will be eligible for free parking.

Events will take place in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe. Please ensure that you dress appropriately for the weather with suitable footwear. Please be advised to take caution when walking on a site with open water and ensure that you always remain on the designated paths. Biting insects can be present at certain times of the year and you may choose to apply insect repellent as a precaution. In warmer weather, you may wish to bring a hat, sun cream and water.
