Norfolk Wildlife Trust invites the public to attend their Claylands Wilder Connections Conference on 18 February.
Norfolk Wildlife Trust (NWT) are inviting you to a free conference that will explore the importance of the county’s landscape for nature and share inspirational stories of communities working together to support Norfolk’s wildlife.
The event celebrates the successful conclusion of NWT’s Claylands Wilder Connections project, which has seen conservationists, landowners and local communities working together to connect patches of fragmented wildlife habitat across parts of South Norfolk. The work is helping wildlife thrive in this unique landscape by restoring, and introducing new, hedgerows, ponds, copses, trees and meadows.
Keynote talks will come from natural history author and NWT President, Patrick Barkham, and Argus Hardy of WildEast. Each will discuss the vital role connecting habitats across a landscape plays in nature conservation.
An introduction will be given by NWT CEO, Eliot Lyne, and NWT Acting Conservation Manager, Helen Baczkowska, will explain how the project has been improving the fortunes for wildlife species that rely on the South Norfolk Claylands. There will also be a chance to find out more about how and why farmland can play a vital part in landscape scale conservation and NWT’s plans for future conservation work in the area.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from, and be inspired by, stories of conservation initiatives supported by local communities that have helped wildlife throughout the 18-month project.

The event is aimed at anybody interested in nature conservation across Norfolk, and in particular communities and land owners interested in taking action for wildlife in their local area.

We are looking forward to sharing inspirational stories from the Claylands Wilder Connections project, answering questions and signposting a host of advice and guidance to help communities continue take steps to support wildlife on a landscape scale right across the county.”
The event takes place in Poringland Community Centre, NR14 7WB on Saturday 18 February, 9:30 am – 4 pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
