Join us on Thursday as well-known author, campaigner and conservationist, Mark Avery talks about the fight for the protection and conservation of birds.
Norfolk Wildlife Trust is holding a talk and supper event on Thursday 22 October, from 7-9pm, in their visitor centre at
NWT Cley Marshes on the north Norfolk coast. Booking is essential: call the centre now on 01263 740008.
It costs £8 for members of NWT and £10 for non-members, which includes a hot meal of jacket potato and an accompanying sauce such as chilli.
The talk will mainly focus on Avery’s new book ‘Inglorious – Conflict in the Uplands’ which makes the case for banning driven grouse shooting but he will be talking more widely on the fight for the protection and conservation of birds. The book will be on sale at £16.99 and he will be signing and reading from it as well.
Mark Avery is a scientist by training and a naturalist by inclination, who writes about and comments on environmental issues. He worked for the RSPB for 25 years before standing down in April 2011; he was the RSPB's Conservation Director for nearly 13 years.
Norfolk Wildlife Trust opened the
Simon Aspinall Wildlife Education Centre in June this year thanks to a £900,000 public appeal and a grant of over £1.5m from Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). It is a new and adaptable space to hold a range of events, talks and workshops to encourage people to learn more about wildlife and conservation.
Full details of the events taking place can be found here.
