The NWT 250 Club held its first Prize Draw of the year on 22 February 2019.
In total 119 prizes were drawn, ensuring consistent odds of 1:15 per ticket. Some interesting facts:
-
77% of winners lived within Norfolk
-
9.2% of winners had joined within the last two years
-
4 ticket holders who hold multiple tickets were lucky enough to win two £30 prizes each.
Our top prize winner, Fred, was kind enough to send us some words about himself: "My wife and I retired to Norfolk in 2001 after I had me worked for many years in the travel and tourism business. I had my first taste of a Norfolk holiday in 1954 and regularly came here each year until we moved here. My main hobby now is photography and my favourite spot is Cley Marshes which I first visited in 1984. I also try and visit Hickling Broad each June to try and photograph the swallowtail butterfly. I have managed a few mediocre shots, a really spectacular closeup still evades me. 2019 maybe the year I am waiting for!"
The 250 Club is a small society lottery currently run by Dick Wingate, Volunteer Promoter, which gives 40% of its income in prizes. It is established to donate the remainder towards Norfolk Wildlife Trust projects such as land restoration, species reintroduction and conservation grazing.
Since its formation in 1981 the club has raised an incredible £250,000. We use the funds as a Third Party Contributing payment to a Landfill Operator, meaning this contribution from the 250 Club has enabled us to unlock a further £2.5 million towards
habitat restoration projects across Norfolk.
We hold two prize draws, in February and July each year.
