18 August 2020
From
Wednesday 19 August we are trialling reopening two of the hides at
NWT Hickling Broad and Marshes – Cadbury Hide and Bittern Hide. We thank visitors in advance for their patience as we trial this process.
Once we are happy with the process at Hickling Broad, we will begin reopening hides at
NWT Cley and Salthouse Marshes and
NWT Holme Dunes. From next week, you will be able to find out more information on these reserves and their hides on this page and the reserve webpages.
28 July 2020
Today the car park at
Ranworth Broad will re-open, on its standard opening and closing times.
23 July 2020
We are pleased to report the sklarks have fledged and so the car park at Roydon Common is now open. Thank you so much for your support and patience during these times.
14 July 2020
As the visitor centres begin to re-open, please read our
guidance on visitor centre safety measures - what to expect.
URGENT UPDATE 12 July: Skylark nest at Roydon
Due to the presence of an active skylark nest discovered in the cark park at Roydon Common, we will not be able to open the car park as planned. We hope to reopen 23 July once the young have fledged. Please check back here or phone 01603 625540 before your visit. Thank you so much for your support and patience during these times.
7 July 2020
As Government restrictions continue to relax and staff and some volunteers return, some of our visitor centres will be opening their doors from 10am–4pm each day. We will be operating a takeaway service for refreshments, with wildlife gifts, books and information available together with some outdoor seating and toilet facilities.
These visitor centres will be opening from Monday 13 July:
- HICKLING BROAD AND MARSHES
- HOLME DUNES
The visitor centre at CLEY AND SALTHOUSE MARSHES will be opening from Wednesday 15 July.
As the breeding season comes to an end for many ground nesting birds, our car park at Holme Dunes will also re-open from Monday 13 July.
For the time being, hides remain closed at all sites and directional signage is in place at Hickling Broad.
Thank you for your patience and we are delighted to have you return to enjoy more of our nature reserves. In coming back, please be aware of possible delays and restricted access so you may need to allow a little more time for your visit.
The list of nature reserves and car parks still closed is below:
- Ranworth Broad and Marshes
- Weeting Heath
- Cockshoot Broad
- Roydon Common - update as of 12 July - car park to remain closed due to active skylark nest in the car park
