Norwich clothes shop support tops £20k for wildlife

A donation on Giving Tuesday to Norfolk Wildlife Trust means White Stuff Norwich has raised more than £20,000 to help conservation work in Norfolk.

#GivingTuesday is the ultimate feel-good antidote to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when millions of people support charitable good causes with fundraising initiatives from bake sales to bike rides.

It is also a time when charities say thank you to their Giving Heroes and NWT is taking the opportunity to show gratitude to its thousands of volunteers, fundraisers and members who enable its work saving Norfolk’s wildlife.

The Norwich branch of White Stuff chose NWT as its charity several years ago, and cemented a lasting friendship through many innovative fundraising initiatives. These have included garden gnome auctions, pet accessory sales, national ‘wear a tea cosy on your head’ day sponsorship, and in-store competitions.

As part of the White Stuff Foundation, the company pledges to give away at least 1% of its annual profits to charity. The Norwich branch of White Stuff will hand over a donation for £753 to NWT on Giving Tuesday, raised as part of their Live Love Local week in the spring.

It brings the amount donated to NWT to just over £20,000 – money which has been used by NWT for education activities with young children and their families.

Chris Dunn manager of the Norwich branch of White Stuff said: “We are very happy to continue to support Norfolk Wildlife Trust. We’d like to thank all our lovely customers who are so willing to give to charity, and have fun while doing so.”

Chief Executive of Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Pamela Abbott said: “We are hugely grateful to White Stuff and their continuing support. We will be at the Norwich shop on Giving Tuesday to celebrate the donation and also take part in more fun activities to raise money.

“There is power in collective giving. If 100 people or groups each raised £100 on #GivingTuesday, we could put an extra £10,000 towards our work protecting key habitats and species across Norfolk.

“We are inviting all of our supporters to join us on Tuesday 27 November to raise funds and awareness for our local wildlife and the fragile habitats which support them. Every penny we receive from fundraisers and our members helps us protect wildlife.”
