Sessions: surveying / data collection

Surveying includes identifying flora and fanua in their natural habitats using a variety of surveying techniques. Sessions vary depending on the habitats at our reserves but can include: saltmarsh plants, bird surveying, coastal vegetation (shingle/ sand dune), tree identification and distribution, water quality testing, pebble analysis and beach profiling.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand that habitats support a wide variety of faunas and flora
  • Recognise some species, and begin to classify species with similar characteristics
  • Appreciate the need for collecting species data and examine different methodology for collecting data
  • Be inspired by the diversity of Norfolk’s Wildlife
