Sessions: conflict on the coast

The day will explore the conflicts on the coast by comparing two sites along the North Norfolk Coast. The session at NWT Cley Marshes will provide a detailed case study of the 2013 storm surge and how coastal flooding affects wildlife and communities. The session at The Mo in Sheringham will focus on the physical and human geography impact of a storm surge. Each session lasts half a day so both sessions provides a full day.

Students, participating in a full day would cover; understanding the processes that shape the coastline, realise the various management options for protecting the coastline, understand both the economic and environmental values of this coastal area, gain in depth knowledge on storm surge case study. Before the visit, teachers will be provided with a pre-visit PowerPoint presentation which focuses on the key coastal process term students will need to know before their visit.
