Pike are found in freshwater where there is plenty of oxygen. Ponds, lakes, rivers, canals, ditches and dykes can all be ideal pike habitat. They are solitary fish but they sometimes form small groups outside of the spawning season which lasts from March to May. Younger pike tends to stick to weedy waters whereas the adults prefer open water. Pike are common in the Norfolk Broads, rivers and fishing lake. Young pike can sometimes be seen at NWT Hickling Broad close to the pond dipping area.
