Protecting Wildlife

NWT’s conservation work aims to create an ecological network to secure the long term future of our wildlife. This requires protecting existing sites from adverse development, providing advice on land management and creating more habitats for wildlife. We concentrate our activities on the following

  • advising landowners and managers of County Wildlife Sites on how to manage their land
  • ensuring that policies and plans of government and other organisation contribute toward enhancing wildlife
  • developing an ecological network to help mitigate the impacts of climate change on wildlife
  • ensuring the planning system protects wildlife from inappropriate development
  • Encouraging others to protect wildlife
