Investors in Wildlife enjoy Summer Event
Friday 19 June 2009
On Thursday 18 June, we held our annual Summer Event to celebrate the support of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Investors in Wildlife. This year, the event was held at NWT Cley Marshes Visitor Centre, allowing our guests to explore the nature reserve, learn more about NWT’s work and enjoy stunning views of marsh harrier and impressive numbers of waders and wildfowl.
Investors in Wildlife are local, national and multinational companies and organisations and, over the past year, these supporters pledged over £100,000 to NWT. As well as annual membership subscriptions, support is given in a number of ways; from Charity of the Year, work parties on nature reserves, collection boxes and in-kind donations of services and materials, to major donations towards projects and appeals.
Some NWT projects could not have been achieved without the financial support of our corporate members. These include: over £28,000 towards the Broads Access and Education project, providing new boats for education groups at NWT nature reserves at Hickling and Ranworth; £19,650 towards the purchase of new land at Upton Broad and Marshes to expand the nature reserve and restore both existing and newly purchased areas; and £5,000 towards the re-creation of over 60 hectares of heathland at Grimston Warren near King’s Lynn.
In these tense financial times, particularly for companies, this support is even more precious and the Summer Event was the perfect opportunity to say thank you and to demonstrate the kind of results that can be achieved thanks to our Investors in Wildlife.
