Join us on Sunday 10 May!
Bring all of the family along for a fun-packed day out at Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Barton Broad on Sunday 10 May. Try something a bit different with a wild variety of activities, including canoe safari, bushcraft activities and geocaching.
Taking place at the Barton Turf Adventure Centre from 11 – 4, this event will give you and the family the opportunity to learn about the wonderful wildlife of the Broads whilst having plenty of fun. Listen to tales of the wild from our storyteller, have a go at natural craft-making, reed dressing and pond dipping or take to the Broads on a canoe trail or sailing trip. Barton Broad also plays host to the North Norfolk Worm Charming Championship, a unique experience not to be missed!
The event is run by Norfolk Wildlife Trust, and will feature events and activities also run by RSPB, Broads Authority, British Dragonfly Society, Museum of the Broads, Norfolk Punt Club and Barton Turf Adventure Centre.
This event, supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, is designed to introduce people to the Bure Valley Living Landscape, a scheme that aims to enhance the wetland habitats and to provide facilities for people to enjoy the wildlife. Chief Executive of Norfolk Wildlife Trust, Brendan Joyce explains: “The best place to learn about wildlife is out in the wild, and this annual event at Barton Broad is a chance to explore in the company of experts. There are a huge range of activities for young and old, and you will be surprised how much you learn while also simply enjoying a very special place.”
Entry to the event and parking is free, but there will be a small charge for some of the activities, such as the boat trips and worm charming. There is no need to book, just come along and make the most of what the day has to offer! Find us at Staithe Road, Barton Turf, NR12 8AZ.
Go Wild at Barton is also supported by Essex & Suffolk Water, Broads SDF Fund, East of England Co-operative Society and John Jarrold Trust.
