NWT Ranworth Broad
(Part of Bure Marshes NNR)
One of Norfolk’s most popular Broads with plenty to see and do for both families and naturalists. Our floating Broads Wildlife Centre is located at the end of an informative boardwalk.
What to look for: Spring / summer swallowtail butterfly. Marsh valarian, milk parsley. Common tern.
Autumn/winter Redpoll, siskin, wildfowl. Royal fern, marsh ferm.
Year round Cetti’s warbler, great crested grebe, cormorant.
Facilities: Interpretive boardwalk explains the succession from open water to dry land and the many habitats you pass through. The floating Visitor Centre has fabulous views over NWT Ranworth Broad and contains interactive displays. Refreshments are available and binoculars and telescopes are provided for use from the upper windows. Wildlife Detective Bumbags for children are free to hire. Disabled parking is available and the centre and boardwalks are suitable for wheelchairs. Reserve leaflet.
Opening: The boardwalk through the nature reserve is open year round. The Broads Wildlife Centre is open April to October 10am to 5pm daily. Call 01603 270479 during season for further information.
Directions: NWT Ranworth Broad is close to the village of Ranworth in the heart of the Broads. 3km West of Acle, turn North off the A47, into B1140 and go into S Walsham (right turn). Take the first left after the Post Office, to Ranworth. In Ranworth look for signs for Broadland wildlife centre Car Park (right turn).

Access: Parking is available in the NWT car park at Ranworth village. Approach the Broads Wildlife Centre either along the 500m interpretive boardwalk or via the electric ferryboat from the staithe at Ranworth village. The ferryboat is available in the afternoons from April to October only. Limited disabled parking is available.
Did you know? The Cator family gave Ranworth Broad to NWT in 1949. NWT’s Patron the Queen opened the Broads Wildlife Centre in 1976.
