NWT Wayland Wood

The impenetrable wild wood of NWT Wayland Wood instils a sense of history for which it is locally renowned.

What to look for: Spring/summer bluebell, yellow archangel, early purple orchid, wood anemone, bugle. Nightingale. Autumn/winter oak, ash, hazel, bird cherry. Year round golden pheasant.

Facilities: Information board and way-marked trails.

Directions: NWT Wayland Wood is just south of Watton on the A1075 road to Thetford. The wood and car park are 1km south of Watton, signed by a brown tourist sign.

Access: Entrance is from the car park. Caution – traffic is fast on this stretch of road and visibility is poor.

Did you know? Wayland Wood is believed to be the site of the ‘Babes in the Wood’ legend.
