NWT Alderfen Broad

Beautiful Broadland scenery with rolling green views

What to look for: Spring / summer swallowtail and white admiral butterflies, hairy dragonflies and red-eyed damselflies. Cowbane, marsh fern and greater tussock sedge. Autumn / winter ospreys on migration. Sphagnum moss.

Facilities: There are footpaths around the nature reserve and a short boardwalk to the water’s edge. Paths are muddy year round.

Directions: NWT Alderfen Broad is 3km east of Hoveton. Turn onto the A1062 toward PotterHeigham from the A1151 Norwich-Stalham road. 3km east of Hoveton turn left at the Horning crossroads, after 1km turn right, and then after 1km turn left. NWT Alderfen Broad is the third roadon the right.

Access: Entrance is via an unsurfaced road, which may be unsuitable for some vehicles. Park in the small car park beside the Broad.
