Legacy, David Tipling“The Norfolk countryside and its wildlife is our heritage and it is up to all of us to care and protect it for future generations”

Brendan Joyce, Director of Norfolk Wildlife Trust

Many of us have happy memories of the Norfolk countryside; the sun setting over the reeds, grazing cattle on the marshes in the Broads, ancient woodlands carpeted in bluebells, stone curlews staring at Weeting Heath, avocets feeding in the mud… Imagine if our children were robbed of those experiences.

One of the most effective ways you can help to ensure a future for Norfolk’s wonderful wildlife is by remembering Norfolk Wildlife Trust in your Will. We rely on the support and generosity of our members and supporters, and legacies provide us with a vital income stream.

Over the last twenty years, £1.5 million has been left to Norfolk Wildlife Trust through legacies and gifts, making a huge difference to our work. Acquisitions at Salthouse, Grimston Warren and Upton Broad and Marshes would not have been possible without these funds. These gifts have also helped us to restore and conserve habitats at reserves throughout the county. This has resulted in the return of scarce species such as the bittern, marsh harrier, stone curlew, silver studded blue butterfly and the natterjack toad.

Gifts can take many forms, from company stocks and shares to property and areas of land. Gifts in memoriam, and in lieu of flowers, have also helped us on our nature reserves.

Please consider remembering Norfolk Wildlife Trust in your Will. In doing so, you will continue your support in one of the most valuable ways you can. All legacies, however big or small, help us plan for the long-term and react to the most pressing needs as they arise, ensuring that we can continue to make a real and lasting difference.
