Monitoring and analysis - National weather service

N_-Pickenham-windfarm-(2).jpgEcological monitoring is necessary in order to document changes in important properties of biological communities and the information collected will require rigorous and objective analysis.

NWS has been involved with monitoring projects running from as early as 1994. These include:

  • Working in conjunction with professional statisticians, our analysis from monitoring results on hydrologically-vulnerable sites for the potential effects of water abstraction has provided sufficient confidence for the Environment Agency to support the renewal of licences.

  • Monitoring of bird activity on sites following the construction of windfarms.
