Habitat explorer

Norfolk is blessed with a rich and varied wildlife heritage. It is arguably most famous for its wild north coast, the rivers, lakes and marshes of the Broads and the sandy heaths of Breckland. However there is more to Norfolk than this, with heaths, fens, grasslands and ancient woods scattered throughout the county within the wider farmed countryside. These beautiful and often vulnerable wild places are not static and have evolved gradually over thousands of years in response to climate, soil, water and the impact of humans.

A brief description of each of the major habitats found in Norfolk is given here, along with any NWT project work taking place.
