Christmas Trimmings – Naturally!

Posted on Wednesday 14 December 2011

Get in the Christmas spirit, the natural way! Community Roots and Norfolk Wildlife Trust are having a free Family Festive Fun Day with natural crafts and activities to spruce up homes and gardens.

The event takes place on Sunday 18 December at Queen Anne’s Road Garden, the old college site, South Town, Great Yarmouth. Drop in anytime between 1 and 4pm. There will be lots to do to get you in the festive mood - have a go at making an apple bird feeder, a robin mobile and willow weaving; take a tour of the gardens; or turn your hand to some natural Christmas decorations. All the activities are free and will take place indoors and outdoors so dress warmly! Refreshments will be available.

You can also join us from 4.30 until 6pm as night falls for a cuppa and a mince pie and discover some of the wildlife living on your back doorstep.

This will be Community Roots’ first event at the garden, but will hopefully be the first of many, currently supported by Great Yarmouth and Waveney Mind.

Community Roots is looking to work with local people to develop events and courses for the community, supported by the community. Joe Crabb from Community Roots said: “We are keen to work with individuals, schools and other community groups, to engage them in conversations about what they would like the garden to offer. Currently we are planning more projects over the spring including a creative arts course, community gardening days, produce sales, events and workshops from Norfolk Wildlife Trust. Please come along on Sunday and join the conversation, whilst at the same time taking part in lots of festive fun.”
